    pick you own car!!

i have heard that if you book a mid size suv you can pick your own, can anyone tell me how that works?
1 are the keys just sitting in the cars?
2 does anyone follow you and harrass you?
3 do you get plenty time to look around?
4 is this all rental companies?
    thanks for all the help

)With Alamo you pick your own car. They are all in rows with a large label on the end pillar ie. COMPACT, MID SIZE etc. You are not hassled at all and can wonder up and down the row, the keys are either in the door or the ignition. We always look at several, checking boot size, cleanliness etc. before making a final decision (I say we, but it is normally the hubby who is so picky I am too tired to care[msnsad]

We like Alamo for that reason. If you have time then you can take as long as you like. Some cars in the same category have different sized boots (trunks) so if you have a lot of luggage it can pay to look in a couple before deciding on one. There is nobody around to hassle you, and we have often found an almost new vehicle.

    Have fun! [msnwink]

They will check your paperwork as you exit the car park though, so you can't pick one from a better category!

We had the same with Dollar on the last 2 trips. They direct you to the ro where you select your car. We had booked an economy car as there just 2 of us and 3 the second time but the row the cars were in were all compact (or vice versa).

Does this mean Dollar have changed to letting you chose all the time or is this only at selected times? We have been using Alamo recently as we prefer to be able to chose our own vehicle rather than be allocated one.

Last week we had the choice of 1 car only, of course we were offered an upgrade if we wanted a choice at a cost of course.

[/quote] assumed it did Jill as it has been on the last 2 occasions it has happened to us. The rows were marked with the car group so I dont think it was a special.
