Hello Donny, only had one experience with Alamo at Tampa, have to say not impressed.

Only one car 'allocated' on our arival, it stunk of cigarettes, reported it at time, informed 'can chage car next day'.

That was ok until next day, whilst in Kissimmee in our Villa and informed had to return to Tampa to change vehicle.[msnmad]

After many phone calls and also a visit to an Alamo office at Hotel on 192 eventually went to Orlando airport where car changed for a new one.[msnsmile2]

I am sure many good stories, but from my single experience. I was not offered a choice. [msnsad]

We use Tampa Airport but use Budget so cannot comment on choosing a car, that is not a system they operate.

Tampa is a wonderful airport. It is obviously smaller and therefore quieter than bustling Orlando.

Car rental companies on site and due to recent road improvements the exiting from the airport is extremely easy.

We flew into Tampa in June and really enjoyed the experience. As our villa is on Highway 27 near the 192 junction we found it very convenient as it only took about an hour to get 'home.' We would certainly recommend this route. The airport is smaller than MCO so easy to navigate, and quicker to get luggage, go through immigration etc.

We rented a car from Budget (from uscarhire.co.uk, of course!) and we were given a brand new Avenger. Very clean. No queue whatsoever, the easiest pick up of a car we have had for a long time.

    No idea about Alamo, though.

We last used Alamo at Tampa in May and you do chose a car. The selection is not as large as at Orlando but then the airport is not as large as Orlando.

Alamo unlike some of the car hire companies is NOT on site. Car rental buses are just outside the airport and the Alamo bus runs frequently. Once you have chosen your car it is easy to get off the airport and on to the road system and pick up the I4 East towards Orlando. The return is also easy and straightforward and because it is not as busy as Orlando you are not hurried up as much in the car return line.
