    Fueling question - Help/advise please...

Ok a bit anorak, but.... if I recall correctly, the last time I was in Florida when buying fuel you paid before filling the car i.e. "$30 on pump 4 please" etc.

Is this still the case? Or is there the pre-pay facility at the pump like some of our filling stations over here in the UK?

And (bear with me please ) if there is a pre-pay can a pre-pay travel card be used in them?

    Phew![:I]

Thanks in advance for your replies

    Mark

Not sure about using a pre-pay travel card as I have not used one but when I was in Florida in May I came across both having to go into the garage and ask for $X on pump X and at other stations I used my debit card in the same way as we do here in the UK

Great thanks for the info. Suppose the only way of sussing out the pre-paid card thing is to stick it in and see what happens!

At least it saves me stood by the pumps looking a noddy waiting for the petrol to come out and then getting the P.A. announcement "to the Brit in the knotted hanky on his head please come pay for his fuel" call [msnembarrased]

    Hi Mark

As Jill mentioned more and more of the petrol stations are letting you pay at the pump with your british debit card. it's only the minority that are still requesting that you pay the cashier at the kiosk first.

Have a great time in Orlando,

    Mark.

One problem we found when my borther used his credit card to fill up. As you dont know how much it is then they suggested $50 and give you a receipt for that, HOWEVER when you fill up they didnt give a receipt for how much it actually came to without asking. So if you had a query with your credit card company later wouldnt have exact figures to show them what the transaction should have been.

I've always gone back into the shop and they've refunded any extra back onto the credit card.
