    Dollar, A few Q's

Am coming out in Oct and have booked car-hire with Dollar,
Have hired a Chrysler 300 (or similar)if anyone has been in the same boat recently What car did you receive? and what sort of condition was it in?,
What is the current going rate for a tank of pertol at the rental desk, have to collect full(which I have to pay for obviously) and return empty.
What is Dollar Express and am I too late to use it?

Any other info/tips like wait times etc would be appreciated

The Chrysler 300 is(in my opinion) the best rental car available - it is really the old model Mercedes E Class(in drag!)

The cars are invariably low mileage and in good condition - in 50+ trips I have never had a poor condition car.

Wait times are just a lottery at both MCO and Sanford! If some planes from Europe(in particular) have landed before you, you can be in for a lengthy wait(my son queued for 3 hours once!) but often it is pretty quick.

If possible get the driver to dash to the car hire desk whilst others collect bags.

Haven't used Dollar recently, but pre-pay for petrol used to be reasonably competitive.

Have you booked your car hire through uscarhire.co.uk at the top of this page? If so then you can register with Dollar Express which means that you skip the queues. You are not too late to register.

We have had Chrysler 300s several times from Dollar and been very happy with these cars. Not sure what a full tank of petrol would cost today - sorry - but guess someone will have the answer.

You can register with Dollar Express regardless of who you booked the car hire with, just go onto the Dollar website. There's plenty of time to get it done between now andOctober and means you now just go straight to the car hire kiosk in the car park instead of in the terminal.

Just back from our trip to Florida last Monday. We rented the luxury car category from Alamo and had a Cadillac DTS. The tank of fuel was $45 which was around $5 more than it was costing me to fill it from empty. I've had Chrysler 300s many times in the past and have always been pleased with them.

I think I'm correct in saying that there are a few variants of the Chrysler 300 which fall into either the Premium or Luxury category. The Luxury models are the 'Touring' and the "Limited' editions which have more powerful engines and all the bells & whistles while the (relatively) standard 300 falls into the Premium category. They're basically the same car and, unlike in the UK, in the US the Touring is a saloon but if you like things like leather and all the toys then the Touring or Limited are the ones to go for. I've rented them all over the years and am now quite happy with the base version.

Occasionally rental firms used to have the even more powerful 300C Hemi which is a V8 and is very flash and quick (and thirsty!) but I don't know if that's still available for rental.
