Driving through Death Valley from Vegas

We are just about to book car rental for our July trip, we are picking up in Las Vegas and dropping off in San Francisco. We have been told that we wont be able to go on the hwy 168 through Death Valley as this is not allowed by the rental companies! Can you confirm please?

We went a very long time ago but that is the way we went and wouldn't have missed it either.

The terms and conditions we have from our suppliers make no mention of this. The restriction is that you can only drive on paved roads. Assuming the road is paved then it will be fine. We have many customers each week that rent cars and make the same journey and I've never heard of any issues.

We have drove to Las Vegas from Los Angeles it took us 4 hours and had no problem it was a rental car .
It had road works for 2 hours so we would have done it earlier not much to see but enjoyed it has we drove onto the strip with our own large car .

We have also driven through Death Valley in a rental car. Was unaware of any restrictions. It was a great experience - just make sure you fill up with fuel before you start the Death Valley part of the drive! We have also driven from Las Vagas to San Fransisco via Lake Tahoe which was fantastic. Enjoy your trip!
