We flew at Christmas with US Airways. They were over £2500 cheaper than Virgin, BA, Delta etc They allow 18kg as hand luggage.
I was going to book two extra cases but the man I spoke to at US said not to as 4 x 18kg = 72kg - 4 x 6kg (Virgin allowance)= 24kg. 72kg - 24kg = 48kg extra, in baggage allowance. [clap][clap][clap]

When I spoke to Virgin to confirm baggage allowances I was told "We have standardised our baggage allowances in line with other airlines. This will make it easier for our customers to understand"

When I said "Two bags at 23kg per passenger was very simple to me"
She replied "Not all our customers find it that simple sir"

I suggested that it was nothing more than a way to have a price increase under a different guise.
She said "No sir, it will make everything easier to understand"

I therefore asked as some other airlines allow cabin baggage to 18kg and Virgin have decided to follow other airlines to "Standardise" the system will I be OK to take 18kg in the cabin? "No sir at this time we have a cabin allowance of 6kg".

I asked "But you said you were doing this as other airlines had done this?" She then said " Would you like to speak to my line supervisor?"

Come on Virgin you "USED" to be the benchmark other airlines followed. As a loyal Virgin customer for over 15 years I now find myself looking at your competitors first, and for my last 3 out of 4 flights used others.
