    hi Everyone
We are flying from Bristol Airport for the first time in August, i was wondering what the facilities are like? We normally fly from LGW.

I fly from Bristol Airport about three times a year, next time this coming Wednesday, the last time I shall be able to use the soon-to-be-defunct Continental service to Newark.

Not sure what you are requiring with regard to facilities, it is a regional airport, larger than Cardiff I believe, and is undergoing extensive enlargement currently. The airport is to the south of Bristol; car parking at the airport is on the side of a hill and it can be a bit of a trek with luggage to get it up to the terminal. Usual coffee shop available, burger bar and one restaurant. No airbridges so if it raining you get wet getting across the tarmac!!

You will find Bristol less frentic than LGW.

You can also use the Silver Zone car park which is at the entrance to the airport. It is very good and they bus you to the terminal.

There is a business lounge if you are entitled to go in there which is very good. Very easy airport to navigate. Have a good flight.

The airport is much smaller than LGW with Cardiff and Bristol being roughly comparable in size. Less facilities, but much easier to get around (no running around wondering where the check in desk is or how to get to the gate). All the usual suspects are there, food and drink, duty free etc and the parking is easy. Look for deals if you have to take a car.

If you opt for Silver parking, it's beyond the entrance to the airport about a half-mile & right at roundabout - bendy bus into terminal. Otherwise just a nice little local airport. W H Smiffs newsagent, 1 caff, 1 pub. Usually bussed to bottom of 'plane steps - might be worth a brolly if pouring (it usually is...).

Travelled from Bristol yesterday, a story in itself.

Airport terminal has undergone some refurbishment since I was there just before Christmas. Duty Free shop much enlarged and the seating which was long overdue for throwing out has been thrown out. New seating is fine but there is only about 30% capacity from the old arrangement. Yesterday was extremely quiet there and I can't imagine what the summer will be like; presume the idea is to 'push' people into eating places to sit - and consume.

I was quite shocked at the lack of seating in Gatwick last time we flew out, I think you are right about pushing people into the grossly overpriced food outlets. The marked difference of Sanford Airport where thre is plenty of seating available. We decided to try Bristol as it is only an hour drive from home in South Wales, on return from Orlando 2 years ago the journey from Gatwick to wales took the same time as the flight from Florida due to hold ups on the Moterway!!
