    Visiting Disney Resorts

Are there limitations on entering any of the disney resorts, we will be staying in a villa on the 27 later this year and was wondering if any of the resorts had any attractions so to speak that outsiders could attend/visit or even just to have a wander round or were these limited to residents, Ian

You can visit the hotels and eat in the resorts.

Disney's Boardwalk is one we always visit, you will require some photo ID to show the guard at the gatehouse, he will then direct you on where to park.
It's near to Epcot and if you time it right you can catch the fireworks in the evenings.

If you do a quick search on here you will find lots of details about The Boardwalk. Here is one to get you started

As Lynne mentions you will need at least one member of your group to have Photo ID with them to show security at the entrance to the resort, however, all of them are very welcoming of people coming to have a look around.

I also like the Boardwalk and would also suggest the Animal Kingdom Lodge as you can sometimes see some of the animals from the viewing deck at the back of the lobby area. The Grand Floridian is also good if you want at a look at Disney's 'top' hotel - we sometimes go for afternoon tea there which isn't cheap but is very nice as a treat.

We often go to Animal Kingdom Lodge to view the animals. Also if you go to Hollywood Studios you don't have to go in, and you can take the boat which goes to Epcot, get off at the various stops and visit the hotels such as Yacht and Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin and Boardwalk, it is good fun and only costs the parking, or go to Boardwalk, free parking and take the boat to Swan & Dolphin and Yacht & Beach Club or even walk between them, it is a nice stroll. If you are really cheeky, you can help yourself to a towel and swim in the pools too - Disney for free.

Thanks for the help but what do you say if there is a manned gatehouse etc at the entry to these resorts, do you just say you are visiting?

There WILL be a manned gate house and you just say that you are coming in for a look around or a meal. All they do is direct you to the self parking area or you can make use of the valet parking. If your going for an evening meal then valet parking is a good option as you don't need to go a find the car in the heat or rain if there happens to be a passing shower.

If you pre book a meal online, when you get to the hotel entrance you can tell the security guard you have booked to dine. You will have a dining reservation number, which you may/may not be asked for. We have at some and not at others.

Or you can brush up on your Disney Restaurants and when asked at security just mention with confidence what restaurant you are going to visit.

Be careful if going to try to swim as you may be asked to show your room key, depending on how busy the pool area is and if you do you will then be given a wrist band to wear, showing you are a resort guest.

There are so many good Disney Restaurants to suit a variety of tastes. We like "The Yatchsmans" at Yatch & Beach Resort. Family of four, two adults two six year olds, last week $275.00 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts, 2 beers, 2 cocktails 2 soft drinks, and 2 special coffee's to finish, inc tip. We have also dined for less than $80.00 inc tip.

I'd definately say that you should go at least to have a look around, as the resorts are, in general, beautiful! As Andrena said, the animals in Animal Kingdom Lodge are brilliant, and a really good way to pass a bit of time out of the parks!
