More volcanic ash is spreading towards the UK so doubt if there will be many flights after tomorrow. Let's hope I am wrong as we really want to travel to MCO on Thursday.[msncry]

1st time on forum for a week or so since this all started last week.
Have been trying to imagine how I would feel if it was me, we are not going out till Oct but dont know what would be worse, not being able to go after looking forward to it for so long or being stuck out there and having to find somewhere to stay and most importantly how to pay for it and all the extra food/car-hire/fuel etc costs, especially reading some posts that it may be next week before people can get on flights, work and school would be least of worries
News at home is full of stories of people using all sorts of modes of transport to get back to smoewhere closer to home.
Current advice is to try and make way to channel ports and extra ferries are on to get you back to UK including 3 Royal Navy ships.
Talk is Madrid being used as a hub to receive UK flights from the Far East and US then fleets of buses to transfer to channel ports.
Latest news is some Northern airports to open tonight /tomorrow morn however this has been stated prev then rescinded closer to the time due to the movement of the ash cloud

Best of luck to all those stranded, how many of you have said why us??

Cunard were saying they had 1,000 people on a waiting list wanting to cross the Atlantic from Southampton - could be the quickest way now!

As of 10 o'clock this evening all UK airports have been declared open - a phased reopening of UK airspace has begun - a Government regulator has declared airspace safe [msncool][clap]

First transatlantic flight to land at Gatwick circa 10PM last night was a BA flight from Edinburgh.

Just had an email from Virgin if anyone's stuck in Europe somewhere...

We are aware that due to the increased disruption being caused by the UK airspace restrictions, many people are being forced into organising alternative travel arrangements. Our chauffeur driven car supplier, Tristar have positioned chauffeurs across Europe in order to help with any urgent journeys to and from the UK, and their Reservations Agents are available 24 hours a day to offer any advice.

To find out more about these discounted rates please contact Tristar on (01895) 432000 to discuss your requirements.

We hope this information will be of use if you or your friends / family are affected.

My son just got his flight changed to May 2nd by American Airlines.

This means he has to stay here and write his Dissertation...... he's not actually that unhappy about that!!

Blott, I got this too. It did make me chuckle!<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by blott
