4: Dad, can you take me to see the easter bunny? !

Day 8, Easter Sunday. I reveal the Cadburys Dairy Milk egg I’ve had hidden in my suitcase for my chocolate-mad wife. She trumps this by producing two out of her own case!

We have heard about the crowds in parks on Easter Sunday, so reluctantly I had set the alarm for (relatively) early, and amaze ourselves by arriving at Magic Kingdom at 0920.

We enter the park and head straight for the station to catch the steam train to the far side of the park. What a pity we didn’t look over to our left as we came in, we would have spotted two extra special guests. Still, our tactic of attacking the park from the rear pays off, it is deserted in ToonTown and FantasyLand and we whizz around the attractions, albeit the very tame attractions, which are about our level!

We do Small World (I cannot guess how any times I’ve done that ride over the years – it’s a lot)

The Hundred Acre Wood and Peter Pan

And things like Goofy’s Barnstormer, Pirates of the Caribbean and Cinderella’s Golden Carousel. Max has been wanting to go on the Mad Tea Party teacups since we got on the plane at Manchester Airport, and surprisingly the kids walk straight on it (they aren’t walking straight when they stagger off it, they look kind of green too)

We go to meet the fairies:

Then grab a good spot to watch the Dream-Along With Mickey show, and I go a bit OTT with the photos ! Here’s a small percentage of them:

We’ve planned ahead and brought a packed lunch today, so we find a great spot in the shade to camp out for the parade and eat our lunch.

    And it’s a great parade:

But where’s the Easter Bunny? We were absolutely sure he would be part of the Magic Kingdom Parade on Easter Sunday – but he doesn’t make an appearance. Where could he be?

We wander around with the intention of doing more rides, but the hordes have now descended on this Magical Kingdom, so after a ride on Snow White’s Scary Adventure, we watch a show at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, except Mrs Dads_Taxi who won’t go in, in case she appears in the show. Last year I was picked out (for those of you who know the show) as “the guy who just wants to get up and dance”! This year we could laugh at other people being humiliated.

Dads_Taxi has an early fare tomorrow, so we head for home late afternoon, and as we walk towards the exits – what’s this? A huge crowd over to the right of the exits. Doh! It’s Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny, posing for photos with children. We consider joining the queue, briefly, then usher Georgia away with the thoughts that if Easter Bunny has made it to Magic Kingdom now, then he’s probably finished his rounds and left some treats at our Villa.

As we drive into our community at Bridgewater Crossing, amazingly we see a family with their little baskets doing their egg-hunt, which backs up our story very well. When we get back, we distract Georgia whilst Easter Bunny, AKA Max, hides the little plastic egg things that American kids get instead of big yummy Cadburys (Kraft ?) eggs, and give her a little basket to go collecting. That Easter Bunny had some very strange hiding places for those eggs!
Having set the alarm for 0330, we have an early night – exciting day ahead tomorrow.
