Alamo Queue at MCO, Kiosks for self check-in

Someone asked recently about the queues for Alamo at Orlando international. I collected from there last night, about 9pm, and I reckon it was about an hour from joining the queue to collecting the car.

As mentioned in posts last year, Alamo have now introduced self check-in kiosks which negate the need to stand in line. However to use the kiosk you need to hold a North American or Canadian driving licence and have booked the car using a credit card and have that credit card with you. There were very few people able to take advantage of the kiosks last night!

Sorry to hear you had to queue. We landed on Saturday, and from air bridge to car park was about 30 mins.

Took the tip to queue at the far right of immigration, and once the three US nationals were processed, we were called over.

Luggage already on the carousel, we took it all on the monorail, and no queue at Alamo desk.

We collected a Ford Escape with 1990 miles and a Town and Country with 4077 miles - probably only been hired out once before.

    Sometimes, it all just works!

Sounds like good advice, thanks for that. Will have to remember that tip when we go this summer as there are always huge queues

If you rent your BUDGET car from this site

    http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/

then your booking will contain a link to their registration site. After you fill in the details you can skip the queue at MCO and go straight to the garage where your car will be waiting. You just need to show your licence and sign the form that's already waiting for you.

Very easy, it works all the time for me.

    hi

Imho sometimes the budget registration doesn't work well at all, sometimes they don't have a car for you and/or sometimes they don't have any paperwork for you either and sometimes the car that you eventually get breaks down all the time and sometimes Budget don't give a ....

Sometimes Budget are not very easy at all .... or is that just me [msnsad]

Sometimes Budget are not very easy at all .... or is that just me [msnsad][/quote]I guess all companies have problems. I have hired from all five major companies all over Europe and the U.S. over the last 30 years. None of them stand out as head and shoulders above the rest.

My worst experience in the U.S. was with ALAMO where I had 3 bad SUV's in 5 days. I have used DOLLAR a lot until they moved their prices to high when I switched to BUDGET.

So far no problems but if you hire enough then at some point problems will happen it's just the way things are.

It sounds like you have had more than your share with BUDGET just like I did with ALAMO.

As a result, I usually go with the cheapest option although I'm not a big Budget fan following a couple of poor experiences.

Many thanks for the feedback from you all. there is not much difference in the price for all 3 companies for the class of car I have quotes for, the only difference is that you can bring the car back full with Budget. But I like the idea of the pre registration and skipping the queues so will probably go with them.
