    SAT NAV hire at location

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone can tell me what Alamo and Budget are charging for a 2 wk rental of a Sat Nav at Orlando (MCO)?

The quote for the car was £10 cheaper at Alamo, but if they charge $50 more for the SAT Nav. I then should take the budget offer.

The reason I ask is because I'm from Aruba and I have to hire the Sat Nav at the car rental...

Both charge in the order of $12 per day plus taxes and airport fees, so it ends up around $16 per day.

WOW, that's huge! Then I should buy it myself at the first nearby BestBuy, or do I miss something here?

You can hire it from here

    http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/sat-nav.aspx

£30 a week, it gets delivered to your home in the UK, and is cheaper the more weeks you book it for.

In your circumstances I would be tempted to buy one myself. I hired one just for one day for a trip from San Francisco to the aquarium and it stopped working halfway along the route so was useless. It took several emails and calls to get the promised refund.

That is what we done, bought one at home in Scotland and will put US maps on to it for our trip to Florida, it works out a little dearer but you'll use it time and again.

PS: worked in Curacao for eight weeks in 2000 connecting in Aruba,
have you stayed in Aruba a while ?
    Wish I was there now.

I would definitely buy one there (make sure you compare the prices, sometimes it's just a few bucks more to get a "package" with world maps, when buying maps separately can be expensive), or just do without... which is exactly what we all did until just a few years ago [msnwink].

Aruba does sound nice right now...[msncry]
