    Alamo Hire

We have booked through this site for car hire with Alamo, can anyone advise how easy it is to find the Alamo desk after we've been through customs at MCO.
Also our flight lands at 6pm 2nd April, what time can we expect to have picked up our car(will we have to wait in a big queue etc?) Just want a rough idea of when we will get to our villa which is in Indian Ridge.
Sorry - first timers- bit clueless!!

Hi, Not sure about Indian Ridge, but all the car hire companies are easy to find, all on ground level, directly opposite the garages where you pick up your car.

Are you flying into Orlando direct from the UK? If so, you will have to take account of the time it takes to get through Immigration & Customs. That can be as much as a couple of hours or as little as 30 minutes. If you are on a connecting itinerary, you will already have cleared those and can walk straight through so you'll be on your way to the car rental desks as soon as you've collected your bags.

Again, the time to reach the front of the queue for the desk can vary quite a bit. If it isn't busy, you can be away within 30 minutes of collecting your bags but, unfortunately, it can also get to 2 or 3 times that if you're unlucky.

If you're on a direct flight from the UK then I'd say that on average you'll be on your way to your accommodation between 7.30 & 8.00 pm. If you've already cleared immigration elsewhere, then you can probably knock at least 30 minutes off that.

Thats great thanks for the info- We are direct from Glasgow and I guess it will be busy with it being easter so we'll just need to relax and give in to how ever long it takes.

Hopefully we will get to the villa by 8 ish though ,cos have 5 year old in tow and I imagine with the time difference she will be really exhausted.

Lynn you may want to consider sending the drivers up ahead to start the car hire process whilst the non drivers wait for the luggage to come off? It can speed things up a bit, but I appreciate if its your first trip you may not want to split up.

Alternativly when you leave immigration you collect your luggage to go through customs, then surrended it again before you get the train to the main departure lounge. Then que to collect it again once you are in the main terminal. Alternativly if you keep your luggage with you from the 1st pick up, and it does mean having to drag it onto the train with you, it saves time having to wait for it yet again, and you can go straight down to car hire.

You can look up the airport on the internet and familarise yourself with the lay out. Hope this helps.

    Diane.

Collected our car from Alamo today at MCO. Queues not long - many more agents on the desks than we have seen with other hire companies. We were dealt with speedily (no hard sell whatsoever) and the only thing that took any time at all was choosing which of the beautiful vehicles to take out. Ended up with a lovely silver Dodge Caravan with just 4,000 on the clock and it was immaculate inside. From landing to driving out of the airport took little more than 45 mins - including the time deciding which car we liked best. [msnwink]

Of course nobody can guarantee you how long it will take, but the airport itself was pretty busy so it varies from day to day.

.... We are direct from Glasgow ....[/quote]Hi Lynn,

Which carrier flies direct from Glasgow to MCN in April?

I was wondering that myself because, as far as I know, nobody does. There will be charters but they would almost certainly go into Sanford.
