Best size vehicle for the above, was going to go for a 7 seat SUV but inlight of the fact Imay get the car I hate the most (Jeep Commander) what are your suggestions for alternatives. chrysler 300? etc etc

We hired a full size recently and our 2 large and 2 small cases only just went in so go bigger than that.

IMHO even if somebody has to sit with a suitcase on their knees to and from the airport, the savings from renting a smaller vehicle are well worth the minor inconvenience.
If you rent a decent sized saloon, it's easy to put a suitcase upright between the 2 back seat passengers.
