What happened to the price of car hire

Their prices have gone up (especially Budget) by £100 since two weeks ago. Does any one know or think they will return to more reasonable rates ?

Note, it's Budget that have increased some of their rates (for all agents, not just us). They have finally come more in line with Alamo for some of their larger cars. Most of the regular car types have not changed in price.

The only particularly odd increase is their Premium car which went up massively - its now more than the Luxury. We are still waiting for them to clarify this. For now, most people wanting a Premium are selecting the Full Size 4 Door then expecing the free upgrade to Premium on collection. Otherwise it's best to book the Luxury which is a nicer car and yet cheaper.

Yes but actually we want a 7 seater 4x4 for 3 weeks and not a car.
By the way didnt mean to imply that it was uscarhires fault they are driven (exscuse the pun) by the suppliers best price to them. Apolgies if it came off in any other way.

I have changed the title to reflect this.

No worries, I understood how you meant it. Budget have been the last of the main suppliers to up their rates. The others started over a year ago.

They have cottoned on to the fact that the larger cars can attract a much higher rate as they are in shorter supply and getting more popular.

US car hire prices I feel are still great value. We hired a car in Italy for 5 days, the cost was £180 which included the damage waiver. It was a small scratched and dented Punto, no radio, and when we told them we were driving it into France to a small village, literally just across the border, they made up sign a disclaimer that we would be responsible for any damage/accident if it happened in France and we had to pay a €600 deposit even though we have purchased the excess insurance.
