    Parking at MCO

    Hi.
Does anyone know if it is possible to collect the hire car from The Alamo section at Orlando International then drive round to the exit of the terminal (where the taxis and limos pull up)to collect the rest of the family???

Hoping to do this so i can go get the car on my own without having to trail all the luggage and kids over to the garage. Also it will be easier to see if we can fit all the luggage in or whether a taxi is required.

    Thanks

No you would need to use the public pickup point as there are barriers. Its only a 100' walk, no sweat. We used to have tomes of extra luggage and never found it a problem. There are trollies.

    Hi Garry,

I would have thought that it would be as easy to bring all the luggage etc. to the hire car garage as to the taxi rank. Also, while in the garage, you are under no pressure to pack the car quickly, which you might find is the case at the taxi rank. If you find that all the luggage won't fit into the car, you could then send one of your party to the taxi rank and get the taxi to come to you.

Also, I am sure that you could drive from the garage to the taxi rank, but I wouldn't think it is signposted. If you got lost, it could be a nightmare[msnscared]

    Thanks guys.
Sounds like we may aswell just cross the road to the garage. My only thought was that we will have luggage, double pram, car seats and 5 kids so if the Alamo section for an 8 seater minivan was upstairs in the garage then it might be a bit of a nightmare (only 3 adults to the 5 kids and me the only bloke).

We hired from Budget last year and just stayed at the kiosk near the escalator until they brought our car round for us. Rest of the group were already on their way to the villa in a limo. Didn't know how far away the 8 seater from Alamo would be but seems like it's around 100 feet ie, nothing really.

The area when you come out directly from the car hire desk is restricted access for buses and taxis. It would be more hassle for your party to make their way up via a lift to the pickup point, which is much further away that simply going straight to the car.

Thanks Martin. I think that was my mistake as i thought the area outside the terminal exit WAS the public pick up point as that's where the limo parked.

Straight to the garage it is then.

    Thanks again.

There are 2 levels by the baggage claim. If you go down a level then there is a public pick-up point but they really do not like you parking in there for more than a couple of minutes.

I think you will find if you were to go there and start trying to sort a lot of luggage the security guy with his whistle will start hassling you. As suggested above, I think you will find it as easy, and less hassly to go to the Alamo parking lot together and load up at your leisure.

Also, I'm fairly certain, to get to the collection point by car after leaving the car hire depot would mean taking the road all the way around the airport back to the terminal which is a bit of a treck as well as pretty stressful when you're getting used to a new car on the wrong side of the road!

    Hi Garry
We were there last August and Alamo were upstairs.[msnsad]
We went back at Christmas and promptly went across the road, went upstairs (cases and all) only to find they had moved downstairs[msnembarrased]

The public pick up is a nightmare at the best especially if you have a lot of luggage you will definitely do better to go to the garage and then take your time.

We picked Robert up from the public pick up area one evening and were told to hurry up as we were being a bit slow loading all his 'toot' into the car.
