We have a north facing rear garden and 3/4 of the pool gets the sun through the day in the month of October. We have sunbeds to the front and rear of the pool because not everybody wants the sun all day long. In 6 year of renting we have never found the north facing pool to be a problem with sun light. What you may find is that most people go to the parks through the day and may only use the pool during the evening in which case its dark.

It does depend on the villa, the size of plot and neighbouring houses ect. However I would suggest you went for a South or West facing pool, with a shaded area. Having said this during the summer when the sun is overhead North facing is not that much of an issue.

We have a west facing pool and spent all of November and most of December there. We had our deck extended when the villa was built which takes the pool well out from the back of the house. We have a single story house next door to us. We had sun on the pool all day long with shade on the part of the deck close to the house very early in the morning but the rest of the time the deck was in full sun.

I think it all depends on what we want during the time you're there.
We love sun and we are going in February. The last time we booked through an agency and we had no idea where we'd end up. Well, it turned out to be a villa with a north facing pool. We had no sun whatsoever on the deck.
So coming Feb we are staying in a villa with a west facing pool and no rear neighbours. We chose west facing as we get up very early every day to go to the parks. We're done in the parks and doing other stuff around 3 pm which is when we want to enjoy the pool and sun. So we can enjoy the sun right until it sets.
In summer I would't mind having a north facing pool.

If you like to be able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace in the sun, you might want to look for an east facing pool. If you want sun all day long, go for south facing.

IF the sunshine is important to you, go for south facing, not overlooked, with large deck- but if you look at a few owners villas on here, look at the photos of the pool and if they have any shade on them. In our case, we haven't, pure SF, very large piece of land, and very large deck- but we have a lanai to provide cover from the sun, with fans -we wanted to ensure we covered all bases for ou comfort

    Sames with us Carol

We stayed at our Villa over Xmas a couple of years ago and it makes hardly any difference, but at the end of the day its down to the choice of the people renting. Whether they want to stay at the Villa through the day or head off to the attractions etc

Our villa has a north facing garden and we have sun on the pool and deck all year around. Our villa is single storey as are the villas to the back of us - so no shadows from around plus we have a massive deck area.

    Ask the owner
