Is a Buick Lucerne or Nissan Maxima OK for 4?

    Hi to all members,

My first post for our first trip to Disney USA!

We have booked a Premium 4 door car through uscarhire.co.uk for Alamo rental at Orlando airport from 2nd-16th Jan 10

The cars I have seen for this category through Alamo seem to be a Buick Lucerne or Nissan Maxima and to me they seem to tick all the right box's.

In your experience, will ether of these cars be suitable for 2 adults and 2 teenagers 12 & 15. We will have 1 large case and 3 medium sized cases and the usual hand luggage as well?

Thank you in advance for any replies and hope you all enjoy your holidays.

I'd say you'll be fine, specially if you're carrying the luggage just back and forth the airport. We had a Buick Lacrosse last summer and the trunk was huge, we had no trouble with our luggage (same family size), I remember the kids had their hand luggage in the middle of the back seat, but can't recall if it was by necessity or if they just wanted their stuff close. Very very nice car, very comfortable. I think we were in the Full size category, so I suppose the Lucerne is bigger.

    Have a nice vacation!

    Many thanks for your replies.

Two more questions about the these cars, as they are premium 4 doors do they have sat-nav as standard?

I am unable to obtain a sat-nav in the Uk so if the car does not come with sat-nav how much would Alamo charge for 2 weeks use?

I now have my voucher ( Gold ) so its just this one issue that I have. As always, thank you for any replies.

I'm not certain about this but I think very few (if any) rental cars have Sat Nav as standard. Some very expensive luxury brands have it fitted as standard but I've never come across any available for mainstream rental.

I suspect the rental firms don't see it as in their interests to do it when they are currently able to charge extra for stand alone sat nav rental - which is perfectly understandable.

    I agree with Katys Grandad.
According to their website, Alamo charges $70 a week (Okay... $69.95...). Plus tax (about 13% I think in Florida).
If you really can't rent one from this site, and feel that you absolutely need a satnav, I'd check out the prices and buy one: I don't know where you live, but here with Xmas coming you can get really good deals on those, just make sure you get the right maps [msnwink].

That said, driving in the US is very easy, you'll certainly be fine without a satnav.
