I would just like to say we are not on opposing sides except in the belief BA will loses its full service status and would certainly agree that if seats had to be changed to ones you weren't happy with, a refund should be given, no question. Only time will tell how that pans out.

I just wanted to point out, that most people will not notice much, if any, difference. You may be surprised to learn that many Silver card holders do not even prebook seats. No-one has to pay extra, but more people are now given the choice to buy those extras, just as with Universal fast pass holders, a few will feel the extra is worth it and the rest of us will scowl as they walk past [msnwink]

I don't know if you have connection with BA but they do seem to make a mess of these things by over-complication and notifications like this coming out of the blue.

I'm by no means anti-BA (I flew transatlantic with them only last weekend) but they are alienating a lot of their customers at the moment.

Someone told me that if you travel with a family, you would now have to pay extra to be guaranteed to sit together. Is that true ?

What they mean is that youu would be almost forced to prebook the seats and pay the cost or take a chance and turn up at checkin and hope there are still seats together. It's not a charge on top of the seat selection but the selection price itself.

Dont forget the charge is each way as well so if you have a family of 5 thats an extra £200.

Now the detail is emerging, the most astonishing thing for me is that there won't be a viewable seat map on BA's website so you won't know whether it's necessary to stump up your £20 per seat or not.

Not only that, you can't select your seats online either - you have to call BA and they will allocate them for you.<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by steph_goodrum

I guess they figure that it will be predominantly business passengers who may not be paying for their seats. I sure hope Virgin dont follow suit as with the luggage charges.

To have to pay extra to sit with my children is just ridiculous. If this turns out to be true they have seen the last of us.

You could look on it as a bonus, if they sit you apart they will have to offer you free childcare for 8 hours
