    JET LAGGED

We have just returned from Florida and the jet lag is thw worst ever - we have done over 20 trips but this time we are both so out of sorts. I recall a post regarding something which can be bought from Walmart which can help but cannot find it. As we go back in February can anyone please recall the product name. Many thanks.

Jamara, it is Melatonin. Try taking an antihistamine this time, I find Benadryl works well for me [msnsmile2]

You need Melatonin. We travel to Florida 2 or 3 times a year and since taking it never have jetlag. Going out is not normally a problem but coming back we take one tablet a night for each hour of time change - 5 nights for Florida. Get up at your normal time each morning and after 5 nights you should be back to your usual sleep pattern.

My whole family get jetlag when coming back from Florida, the first night back home you sleep sooo well and just cant seem to wake up in the morning, the next night and the next three nights are awful, waking up at odd times and not being able to get back to sleep. The funny thing is you dont seem to be tired the next day though. We have found that if you try and get out and about in the daylight during the daytime as much as possible, and then try to stop up as late as possible maybe 1 or 2 am, the jetlag is nowhere near as bad and you get back into your regular sleep pattern quickly.

The main thing we find is try not to go to your bed when you get back (If you manage an hour or two on the plane then that helps). If you try and keep going as long as you can, even if your eye lids are drooping! If you make it until 8pm or so then go to bed and get 12 hours sleep then in the morning you are past the worst.

We used Melatonin this time and it was amazing. Last time it took weeks to get back to normal. 1 tablet a night for each nights time difference worked for us. After a couple of days I felt fine. Must say I can't stay awake getting off the plane as we have a 4 hour drive and sitting in a car sends me to sleep at the best of times.

Make sure you aren't on any meds for depression and the like. Melatonin can mess with them and cause a problem.
