Does the site give data for October/November last year?[/quote]nope just the last 2 months. But looking at sept, the vs016 flight has been delayed more often than not..

but nice to see the american airlines all seem to do well into their hubs, it does look like virgin is the worst.

We fly in a couple of weeks with virgin and again in january with Delta so we'll have a close comarison.

You have to be a bit careful with these average delay figures because, as with all averages, a couple of very long delays can distort the figures.

It's also important to bear in mind which departure times are being used. For example, an aircraft can leave the gate on time but take off late because of the volume of departures or sudden weather conditions at a particular time. Similarly, departure time is useful to know but it's really the arrival time that matters as overall flight hours can be both lost and made up on a long transatlantic journey.

If you look at Wilfy's figures above, VS 27 has an average delay of 48 minutes but has been on time much more often than not and of 62 flights, just 15 have been delayed more than 45 minutes. I suspect a lot of that is made up in the air.

I don't fly Virgin so have no loyalty to them but in terms of flight delays as a whole, the figures aren't all that bad.
