We have flown with Virgin a few times now and had no delays but we must have been lucky but better than the Uk flight companys .
We are flying to Tenerife on Sunday and we are flying with BMI from Manchester both ways and got day time flights so we though but yesterday Wednesday saying they had canceled our flights back and we are coming back with Thomson and we arrive back in UK ay 03.00 am early morning and we asked is there a better time and was told all the flights were full ,Thay would have not been wayback when we booked ,At this late stage we had no choice as 4 Days to flight time ,All i can say is there is no charge [msnsmile2] but no meal either [msnmad]unless we pay for it .
Oh to fly with Virgin or Delta [msnsmile2].

Maureen, don't bank on Virgin not cancelling flights. We booked our flights early this year with them to go back to Fl. between Xmas and New Year and return to UK mid Feb. They have cancelled our return flight, which has now cost us an extra £50 'excess' charge for us to change our flights from Gatwick to Plymouth as we would miss the flight we had already booked on.

Flown frequently with Virgin and probably had 80% at least of the flights being delayed.

Bigeye, it's not just the shopping at Tesco it is other things as well!!!!! It has taken a couple of years but I almost had enough for both flights. However, got a good deal at £301 so will save the other freebie (I now have enough for another one) for another time.

I found a web site that gives percentages of delays. These are all lgw-mco,

    July 1st - August 31st

    vs49 - 8 flights - 50% delayed - avg delay 77 mins - max delay 116 mins - 1 cancellation
    vs27 - 62 flights - 42% delayed - avg delay 48 mins - max delay 368 mins - 0 cancellations
    vs16 - 62 flights - 63% delayed - avg delay 58 mins - max delay 254 mins - 0 cancellation

    And BA's for comparison.

    BA2037 - 62 flights - 25% delayed - avg delay 25 mins - max delay 236 - 0 cancellations
    BA2039 - 27 flights - 30% delayed - avg delay 29 mins - max delay 195 - 0 cancellations

Virgin are just not as good as they used to be, full stop. But have they cut back on the number of flights to Orlando? I've had to book with US Air for our Christmas trip, couldn't get a Virgin flight to suit our dates at all, they seem to be completely sold out.

They have improved the Virgin flight reliability a bit then as it was running at 26% on time at one stage.

They are obviously juggling with flight s when needed as when we started to look for flights in March there were 2 on our return date (Good Friday ) but by the time it cam to booking it there was a choice of 3.

The company we booked with said that it as been the worse year and since Exel went they have had to phone people a lot before they went on holiday ,and some at their resorts to tell them that the planes they were traveling back with had canceled their return journey and if they had done their own plans some had no mobiles and did not know were they were staying ,so that left it to tell them at the airport there would be a long wait to wait or try and get a room in a hotel iftjhey were only traveling back home the next day .
The company that help them out the most was Saga a Turkish Company and they have had no complaints at all from customers ,So may be we need other companys who are not british that are reliable to run our airports[msnsmile2]
We have been using this agent a long time and had no problems with them at all .

Maureen we booked direct with Virgin with a choice of 2 different timed flights home. It is really annoying and causes us extra expense that they have cancelled the flight we booked. Our Insurance Company has a £50 excess so no point in claiming.

I wonder if Virgin will cough up the extra money it has cost to change our flight to Plymouth?[gun][gun]
