size of aircraft

also wanted to ask what size of aircraft ba fly over to orlando, need to get seating organised in my head read for the check-in!!!!!

Boeing 777.

You can check in online and select seats from a seat map 24 hours in advance of departure. Ridiculously, you can't check in for the Transatlantic flight until 24 hours before that departs even though it's part of a multi-segment trip so, if you want to be amongst the first, check in for the flight to Gatwick and then wait the couple of hours or so to check in the flight to Orlando.

I seem to remember that BA allows earlier seats selection (3 days?) if you travel with children, if that's your case.

Just flown with BA, and it was a 777, with 3/3/3 configuration. I do not know about seat selection - you can normally select your seat 24 hours before the flight if you go online.

BA select seats for you 3 days prior to your flight if you travel with children, you can only change them 24 hrs before your flight. In our experience they still scatter your family about the aircraft despite there being enough seats for them to seat you all together.

If you are all in the same booking, then I am surprised that has happened Dave. Two days before hand all 'special needs' people are seated (with babies etc) but you can move yourself when you check in. Every time I have checked in a group, the seats have come up together. It is so important to play fastest finger if you want first pick of seats.

This has happened to me several times Shirley, and i do move us about when i check in on-line which is how i know that they could have sat us all together. we flew back from Miami last weekend and i checked in on-line the morning of our departure only to find my daughter was seated 5 rows away from us, there was still plenty of options avaiable to sit all 5 of us together so was not a problem, but it could have been if we didnt have access to a pc.

Dave[/quote]We never were seated apart, but I've probably just jinxed it[msnwink]. Of course we never take anything for granted and check in on-line. I'm not sure it would be legal to let a child travel "alone" 5 rows away from one of her parents...

Ah but this child is our eldest and she's 19. even so she still didn't want to be seperated from the rest of us.

I understand that Dave our daughter is 27 but she would hate to be seated away from us on the flight, don't think our 22 year old son would be bothered though[msneek] Thats why I prefer Virgin you can choose your seating at the time of booking and change if required later. When we went with BA last, we went to a lot of trouble to find a computer to check in 24 hours before our return flight only to find all the seats had been allocated and there was only the odd seat that you could choose as a replacement.
