It is really simple Donny. You no longer have to had back your bags, you can take them on the shuttle with you

When you arrive, first thing is immigration, then you collect your bags. Through customs where you give in the white and blue card you have completed.

Through the doors and up the esculator to the shuttle which takes you to the main arrivals area. Then follow the signs to car rental, which is down two lots of very long esculators. Simples [msnwink]

Do not worry it is as said before and at least you are not handling your cases up flights of stairs or esculators .
If you come in on Virgin the cases will go at the belt near car hire companys .

Orlando International Airport is one of the most beautiful and clean airports we have ever visited, and my personal favourite, so I am sure you wil have no problems. Yes, it is much larger than Sanford, but that can get very busy - we once waited an hour and half for my son after he landed at Sanford as several flights (some delayed)arrived at the same time and the huge number of people caused a backlog in immigration, so all airports can have their problems. Orlando International is very well designed and we find it a breeze to use.

If you can handle your own luggage - and of course that depends on how many suitcases, how many people, and if any children can manage their own luggage, then you can, indeed, take them on the escalator which brings you up beside the little shuttle, which then takes you to the main airport hub.

However, if you have more suitcases or bits of hand luggage than you can comfortably manage, or if you have young children and buggies etc and just can't cope then yes, you will have to put your luggage back on a conveyor belt once you have passed through immigration and customs. Orlando International Airport has a double baggage reclaim system because after you have landed at one of the satellites and have gone through immigration etc you have to catch the shuttle to the main airport area, so you have to get your luggage there somehow.

Don't be too worried if you do have to put your bags back on the conveyor. We have done it for years, and it just means that usually, by the time you have negotiated the shuttle and walked through the airport to the second baggage reclaim your suitcases will be there waiting for you. There will be porters at the baggage reclaim area who will take your luggage and escort you to the car hire desk and wait for you while you deal with your car, and then take you over to the car park and right to your car (but do make sure that when you hire the porter he knows that you want him to do that as you don't want him to unload your luggage by the car hire desk and leave you!)

The car hire desks are in the same building, and when you have sorted your car then you just walk across to the multi-storey car park where your car will be waiting. As the meerkat would say, 'simples!'

Hope you have a great holiday, and please don't spend any time worrying about your luggage. I am sure you will be fine.

I think they have been a bit dumb because getting a suitcase up a typical escalator that has steps is a safety hazard i think. They should make it into one of them escalators that has no steps and is flat, so you can get suitcases up it much more easily.

Most cases these days have wheels at the end, so they are easy to take up an esculator. I believe there is also a lift as people in wheelchairs couldn't do esculators. I assume anyone can use it.

orlandochris, I am referring to something like those long flat escalators that you get on to exit some rides at Disney such as Space Mountain. They also have them at IKEA in the UK. Do you see what I mean now?

We prefer to arrive at Orlando Int, The Shuttle is the best part as when you board and set off on the very short journey to the main Airport terminal you know you have arrived in Orlando.
