something in the sky early this morning

Got up a little early this morning at 4.00 am unusual for me .
Did anyone see a object in the sky it was very brightly lit ,round with red lights all around .
This is not a joke we thought it was a star so we got binnoculars out and had a look and yes it was round .
There must be alsorts going on in space they never tell us about ?
Well back to bed but it was a sight to see .
    Makes life interesting .

I did read that from the end of July for a month there would be a lot of meteor showers or shooting stars. Tuesday or Wed was supposed to be the peak of activity and they said that for most of the night you would be able to see then probably every 10 mins depending on the cloud cover.

The other thing that a lot of people are thinking are UFOs are Chinese lanterns which are now being set off instead of fierworks inlots of places. Because they stay afloat for a long time depending on conditions then I dont know if one had bee released the previous night if it would still have been around?

    Hi,

It may possibly been the visible "meteor shower" see report from this BBC news link:

We went to a party last November and set off some of these Chinese lanterns in the Stoke on Trent area. The next week there was a report of UFOs and a picture in the local weekly Gazette. However, the picture unknown to them was our Chinese lanterns, one which was particularly succesful and went way out of sight (most of the others were failures I might add!).

It may have been the Chinese Lanterns as it looked round with lights around the edge but no stick coming from the centre .
    Very colourful .
There was too much cloud last night to see the " Meteor shower " same the night before who to be abroad with clear skys .
We thought it may have been a something from the site at Warton as we are not far from there and we have a friend who works on experimental things and cannot tell us nothing as he has sworn not to tell ,It is more than his job is worth

Sounds like a satellite . You can if you search find out what was on the sky at a particular time and area.
If you saw some little green men, then it is a ufo[msnwink]

It's almost certainly the Perseid meteor shower for which even Google changed its logo yesterday.

Doubtful, these last for a second or two each one (approx 100 per hour). You would not have time to go get binocs to view one.

I was abducted by aliens on my 18th birthday, they left me outside the police station in a wheelbarrow and I have no memory of the evening at all [msnoo]
