    The abbey at west haven

    Hi,

We are planning our next trip, and I am looking for some advice on 'The abbey at west haven'. It looks quite a bit up H27 judging by the map (have stayed in greater groves before). Are there places close by to eat? If going to disney would you use the 192, or go down the i4 ? WOuld you recommend it as a location and a community?

    Many Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul

I have stayed in The Abbey at Westhaven, and it is really a lovely gated community. There is shopping at Publix about 5 minutes away, and there are restaurants there, too. I don't know the full list, but Chili's is one of them.

When we stayed there, we only used the I4, and it took about 10-13 minutes at most to get to Disney, and it was a very easy and direct drive. Actually, using the I4 gets you to everywhere you would need to go. No matter where you are staying in Orlando, you will need to drive, so the drive times are not a great issue, really. If you are going to drive for 5 minutes, why not drive for 10?

You asked if anyone would recommend it as a location and as a community? Well, I would definitely recommend it for both. If you choose a villa in The Abbey, you won't be disappointed with either.

I hope this helps, and that you have a wonderful holiday in Florida.

The new Posner Park shopping center is also close by.
I agree, using the I4 to get to all the parks is great, much better than the 192. Great location!

    Hi Paul

If we are going to Disney we always use the I4 and it takes 10 - 15 mins depending on the time of day.

There are plenty of places to eat locally Chillis, Cracker Barrel, Beef O'Bradys, Applebbes. At Championsgate there is a French Restuarant (sorry I forget the name at the moment) a Pizzeria, Chinese, Subway and a MacDonalds.

We've stayed at the Abbey and could definitely recommend it, it's a good location - very handy for I4 and one of the quickest journeys to Disney that we've had.. You wouldn't use the 192 from there.
Aside from location, it's also an attractive development.

    Hi Paul

There is a Club House that has been built including a couple of tennis courts that guests stopping on The Abbey can use. Whilst it is built we are still waiting for the necessary permits to be granted by the local authorities and then for the developers just to finish off the community pool.

    Hi,

I assume the tennis courts you mention are the ones off buckingham drive ? So, these are available for public use at anytime, is this correct >?

    Many Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul
When they open (we have been given date of 31st March or 6th April 2010) they will be available to residents/guests at The Abbey and The Shire. Don't know details yet ie opening times how you get access etc.
