I have read on this forum that if there is no cars available in the class you have booked you automatically get frre upgrade to the next range up. If this is true what is the next range up from a 7 seater minivan?

We just rented a 7 seater from Budget and got a very nice 8 seater
Not good on cars, but think it was a Toyota Sienna?

Thanks we are going with Alamo and was not sure what the next range up was.
We travelled to Florida in 2007 and has a Toyota Sienna. 4 adults (4 cases) and 2 kids (4&5) case between them. The van was great, it was like a tradis. Loads of room inside and very comfortable to drive and be driven in. Hope this helps...
We've had upgrades but we've also had to wait for a car at busy times if one has not been available or downgrade. (We usually have a 4x4 which wasn't available and we were offered a mini van but decided to wait for one to come 'from the other side of the airport').
Not sure if it will work too well with Alamo. They don't give you an actual car but get you to pick from the stand that has the type you paid for.Problem is there is usually a few in the stand that no-one wants and once the better models go people will wait instead of taking a car they don't like too much.If you are lucky when you turn up and there is none in the stand then you will be allowed to choose one from the next range up!

We hve been lucky with Alamo in the past. We had booked an intermediate car and were told as there was a 15 minute wait we could chose a 7 seater van. It was the first time we had a 7 seater and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Free upgrades can be very nice but if you get a much larger car that you need don't forget the chances are it will cost you a lot more in petrol if you do a fair amount of treking around.
