I am off to Orlando in June 10 (my kids already have 343 days to go, up on the message board at home...)
Wanted to know if anyone as hired a 12/15 seater out and how did they find driving it..? did have enough speace of luggage etc etc
We are 5 poss 6 adults and 6 kids.
We are going to stay @ Windsor Hills and wanted to know if driving around disney and between the resort is easy or quite tricky...

If I were you I would reconsider the 15 seater. I went to FL last year with a large family group (9 adults and 5 kids) and we briefly considered a 15 seater. However, the chances of all 15 of you wanting to go to the same places at the same time is slim. If they don't, you'll have a big argument on your hands.

We opted for a couple of 8 seaters with multiple drivers (2 per vehicle) to give us more flexibility - that way one group could go to a park and another group go shopping, for example. It worked out brilliantly, and I am very glad we didn't go for a single large vehicle.

In my experience you'll never have enough luggage space. I know of very few vehicles that claim to be 7 seaters and can carry suitcases for 7 people, for example, and I would think 15 seaters would be the same. But you only really need that capacity when going from/to the airport, and if you're not too far away you can probably manage, albeit a little squashed. The rest of the holiday you won't need any luggage capacity at all

Thx Keith. The cost of a 15 seater compared to a couple of 7 seaters, did it differ alot..?

To be honest it was not much different, and anyway it was worth it for the battles it avoided.

I just took a quick look on Budget for you, June 10th 2010 for 7 days. A 12 seater van (Ford E350) comes out at $1279.99 for the week, and the 7 seater (Dodge Grand Caravan) comes out at $613.99, so almost no difference at all. You have two cars to fill with gas instead of one, but the 7 seater gets almost twice the mileage too.

In my view, a no-brainer as long as you have people prepared to drive

We had a 7 seater for 5 adults and one child and it was a little tight to say the least. Especially to and from the airport but also shopping etc. We are going out again next month and will hire 2 vehicles (1 large and 1 smaller car). Gives us more flexibility and does not work out a lot more expensive.

I use the site above as it is generally much cheaper than others and the price includes everything = no hidden costs.

We had a 15 seater in 2003 and it just fit the bill as we were 10 strong. Once we had dropped the cases in the Villa the 15 seater had ample room (6 Adults, 4 Kids)

The parking bays at the parks restaurants supermarkets etc will all accomodate a 15 seater quiet easily. Lets face it there's not to many things small about America car wise. (Well there maybe a few small cars)

15 seater should do the trick, plus the models look far better then the 2003 versions

My family has been before and we are taking anothe family for the 1st time so they are really looking foe us to help them enjoy disney with them. so we have gone for the 15 seater (and seeing as we are neighbours think we will be ok with all doing samethings..)
i suppose when i go to the parks the 15seater will take up 2 spaces..?

I'm sure you'll have great fun - you can pretend to be Cliff Richard in Summer Holiday

The spaces at the parks are pretty big, and so are American cars, so you'll probably just need one!
