Thread: is walmart cheapest place to shop for food?

  1. #11
Walmart is great for all your basics but I have found that if you are doing some serious self catering (main meals etc) Publix is better. I just love the Publix Deli counter, their free samples of ham and cheese are huge!

Publix we find is definitely better for deli items, cheese in particular and a few other things too - marmalade etc. they also have a lovely bakery [msnsmile2]

    Walmart is probably cheapest.

Winn Dixie also have a reward card which anyone can sign for. You then qualify for additional discounts on certain items and ordinary coupons can still be used for these goods. I have saved quite a bit over the years.

I would say the very cheapest would be something like Save-A-Lot which is definately one of the cheapest stores around and it is where mainly locals shop. It's a bit like Lidl or Aldi maybe a bit bigger and slightly better produce.

Winn Dixie is another haunt for locals as is Big K/KMart.

Stores like Dollar Tree and Dollar General and those type of stores also have limited grocieries such as drink, cereal, packet and canned goods, cleaning stuff, loo rolls and they do have some fresh produce to but very limited such as milk, yoghurt, frozen meals etc..

I personallly prefer Super Target out of the main 3 or 4 grocery stores but it is certainly not the cheapest.

Publix for me every time. If I am wandering around Walmart I may pick up an odd apple/banana but nothing else.

Walmart on price but Sweetbays on choice, quality and service.

I do think that Wal-marts is cheapest, but like CDV we are converts to using Super Target
