    For things that you may need to buy a bottle but not use much, such as ketchup, Dollar Tree are often good value as you dont feel so bad throwing out half finished bottles. Also things like dishwasher tablets,soap powder, rubbish sacks etc where you may only need a few but dont want to buy a huge pack can be found in there.

    Hi, We always use Walmart as they have everything you need, agree Publix is a little more up market, however anywhere you tend to go for food is good quality and alot cheaper than UK prices.[sporty]

    We did find Publix quite a lot more expensive than Wal-mart and as I don't cook as such (think we had 1 lunch and 1 dinner in 3 weeks)so it was more snacks, drinks and breakfasts we shopped at Wal-mart. Cannot comment on quality of dinner type foods but their fruit was fine

    Publix for the quality food shopping, especially their steaks for the bbq which beat Wal-mart's every time. Wal-mart is great for the start of holiday big shop plus you can get so much more there - plus it's much cheaper. I always use both when over.

    As someone said earlier in the thread, in terms of quality and price from a UK perspective:

    Walmart = Asda but 10x bigger and better
    Publix = Sainsbury

    Walmart is cheapest, but not best. Publix is better for number of lines and quality.

    Friends who live over there say Target is the best and not much dearer than WalMart which surprised me. They prefer the whole shopping experience....must say it always looks empty when we go to Target.
