Dollar clamping down on Fuel Policy on Silver

As per our site, Dollar's terms on the Silver option is that you must return the car empty and pay Dollar for a full tank of fuel regardless of how much fuel is left in the car when you return it. The car will be full of fuel when you collect. This has always been the offical policy with Dollar.

Up until now, Dollar have usually been quite flexible on this and if a customer returns full then they have either not taken payment for the tank, or willingly refunded the payment if already taken.

Dollar are now more rigidly enforcing their policy that all cars must be returned as empty as possible, and if a car is returned full then they will still be charging for a tank.

If Dollar advise you on collection that you can return full, then that's fine, but this must be specifically noted on the signed rental agreement when you collect the car, and if you are still charged for the tank then it's an issue you will have to deal with via Dollar directly.

We can no longer get involved with any disputes over fuel refunds if you return Full on the Silver option.

We used to always take the gold option but when we go for 3 weeks and only have 1 driver it costs us more than taking the silver and paying for the fuel, we have been using the bring back full option.

I returned my car full yesterday, they told me I could at the counter when I picked it up and the guy seemed fine with it when I checked it in, so fingers crossed all will be ok

We are in Florida at the moment, we rented the car with Dollar [ silver option] when we picked it up we were NOT asked for a cc card and told to bring the car back full , this seemed strange to us.

also we got a cracking free upgrade we booked a 2 door pontiac or similar and was given a 4 door charger

Perhaps someone could ask what the price per gallon is currently when they pick up or drop the car back and post on here?

We returned our car to Dollar with a full tank yesterday [ $2.63 per gallon] at garage in Sanford], as I previously said we werent asked for a CC when we picked it up, so wonder what would have happened if the tank was not full when we returned it,

Just a thought though, we are dollar priority members , perhaps they have a cc on file from the first time we rented with them many years ago.

I was in a budget office in old town while away last week and they have a notice on the wall that says if they have to fill up a tank for you they charge $7.10 PER GALLON so they advise you to bring the cat back full if asked to do so
