    insurance for over 70s

    Hi there ,

My next door neighbour is taking her family over to our villa next June , but is worried she wont get insurance for her parents who are 70+ and with a few health problems, has anyone had to arrange insurance for an elderly person ?

Saga or Age Concern are pretty good with this kind of situation.

The ones I can think of from memory in getting quotes for my parents Age Concern, Help the Aged, SAGA, Flexicover, Atlas, Staysure, Direct Travel Ins(this one is up to age 75 only)

I'm sure there are more as well.....

If you bank with LLoyds TSB you can get cover free of charge up 80 years of age. Also if you stay longer than the usual 31 days you only need to pay an upgrade to extend the cover. We have up to 65 days for £45 per year which includes both of us and the account only costs us £12 per month and we also get AA cover, credit card cover, mobile phone insurance and other things that I really don't use and can't remember.

    Andrena[/quote]Hi Andrena,

We have the same type of cover with our Nat West advantage Gold account and it has conditions on it (like any other policy) regarding declaration of pre-existing medical conditions, (the OP refered to the neighbours grandparents medical conditions as well as them being over 70)

    - so you need to be careful as it is not blanket cover - they (or at least ours does) operate just the same as any other type of policy.

As you will be aware the USA is not the place to find out you are not insured for the treatment of a non declared pre-existing medical condition.[msneek] $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It would be an unusual (and fortunate) person who is over 70 and has no pre-existing medical conditions. Travel cover linked to things like bank accounts and credit cards tends to be pretty standard and, generally speaking, I doubt it would adequately cover most older people.
