    6 months valid on passport?

Hi all not been on here for a while hope are all well and you can advise me, a friend is going to Florida next year and her return date is July 8th 2010 her passport runs out 15th Jan 2011 which makes it just in the six months they require.
I said to get a new passport just incase but she said she is within the rules. What do you think??

    Thanks
    Ali

The 6 month rule was dropped a couple of years ago.

As long as the passport is valid for her stay, she can go at any time. i.e. on her current passport she can go and return on 14th Jan 2011.

    Thankyou both for your replies,

My friend has rang the passport office and they said the same as you two[msnwink] (your response was quicker)
They did say ring up about 6 months before travel just incase they change the rules. My friend says thanks.

Just warn your friend that many airlines and travel agents seem unaware of the change in rules, and may still try to insist on the six months validity. I'd recommend printing off this page from the US Embassy website that exactly addresses your question.
