    Park age limits free entry

We are going to orlando june 9 to 23. Our toddler will be 3 on the 11th June. We are hoping becuase he is small we might get away with park entry for the whole two weeks (probally just wishfull thinking). Are they quite strict regarding proof of age? Do different parks have different age limits?

    Regards Graeme

The age for children's tickets starts at 3 so yes he would need a ticket. Dont take this the wrong way but what do you want him to say if they ask him his age?

Florida4sun, My son is autistic and will not respond to any questions. I thought my question was reasonably clear, ie Are they quite strict regarding proof of age? I have probally posted this in the wrong section where people with vested interests in flogging tickets will feel the need to say 'He is Three he should pay'.

However thanks southsider for the birthday tip that probally means I can do disney in the first three days for free and plan tickets for the rest of the trip. I will probally use the first two days of the trip as trial run and see if he gets asked for proof of age, which I doubt he will, because of other health problems he is very small.

    Regards Graeme

Graeme, personally I would not bother with tickets for him. Most likely you will have him in his buggy and as you say he is small for his age, the staff are not likely to query his age. My daughter was 3 and a half when we first took her to the parks. Not once were we asked her age. Enjoy your holiday. [msnsmile2]

Martin's answer was spot on. Although we do sell park tickets so have a 'vested interest', you can't really expect us to advise you to try to get him in illegally. I know putting it like that makes it sound like a major crime, but the bottom line is that no one is going to recommend you break the law, however trivial.

To answer your question, I'm sure you will get away with it but personally we've always been up-front about the ages of our children, although I always feel guilty walking through customs at airport when I have nothing to hide [msntongue] so would probably look obviously guilty if we went in to a park with a child that should be paying.

It is nothing to do with vested interests. Anyone one will tell you there is no pressure sales here (we do not need to). It is a valid question and one I get asked each and every day. Do they ask children their ages, sometimes yes, mostly no. What I was trying to say is be prepared for them to be asked their age and what I was trying not to say is do you want your child to tell a lie. I have seen the situation where a parent was ask the childs age they said and 'child spurts out no I am not I am 3 you told me to say I was 2'. The parents really wished for a really big hole to open up underneath them.

If your son does not respond to questions, then that answers your question [msnwink]
Make sure you get a special assistance pass too, as family we know all about having children with special needs and Disney is a wonderful place to be.

Hi Graeme-picking up on the Special Needs pass-we foster and we took a little girl with us who was at the extreme end of the autistic spectrum. We were able to pretty much by pass the queues-trust me you would have wanted us to if you had been there-she didn't do queuing!- The staff at Disney were excellent -but I have got to tell you she loved it-our biggest problem was getting her off some of the rides particularly the faster ones (for a child) and to see her reacting to the lights and characters is something that will live with me forever-Enjoy your holiday!

Absolutely - the special assistance pass at Disney is wonderful - no fuss or questions, just helpfulness throughout the day. Having struggled for years because I didn't know about the pass, I can't recommend it highly enough. If only Universal were as helpful.
