Saturday - Coco beach and space coast.

So Mr M now has the bug to see the Shuttle land, so picnic was made and off we went to Coco beach.


Just managed to squeeze onto a car park and set up on the beach to wait for its arrival. Had lunch, did a bit of paddling, then decided we would get a better view from the Tiki Bar on the Pier.

It was really windy, the Pier was moving and it made me feel unsafe, a bit like motion sickness really. Just got the drinks in and a news flash came up on the TV in the bar to say the shuttle couldn’t land because it was too windy. The barman said “yeah, it was on earlier, it’s coming down tomorrow instead” Mr M was gutted, we have seen one launch but he wanted to see it come back too. But, it was not to be, so we just had to go to Ron Jons shopping instead. I love this shop and could quite happily spend hours wandering around the place. Not needing too much encouragement to get off this wobbly pier, I was off



Mr M doesn’t quite have the same level of enthusiasm as me, and dragged me off to see Daytona speed way instead.

Got back to the house early evening, put the news on and the shuttle had landed at 3.15pm and we had missed it!! The bar man must have got it wrong and we were in Ron Jons as it flew over head!!

So the only thing left was to go out for dinner and sink a few beers….

We were in WalMart when the shuttle came down. Everyone heard the double boom as it broke through the sound barrier. All of the tourists were 'ooh, what was that noise?', but the locals flippantly explained that it was *just* the shuttle landing.

I can't believe we were so close and didn't see or hear a thing. Mr M was gutted![msnwink]
