    Visa for named drivers

Hi I have 4 friends about to depart for the USA, 2 couples with the 2 men driving. One of the two men does not have a visa\credit card. His partner booked the car as part of a package and has now been told each named driver must have a credit card. So any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

We have never had to provide a credit card for each named driver and only ever given over a card in the name of the lead driver.

Sounds weird that you'd have to provide 2 credit cards. We did provide IDs and licenses (and sometimes not even asked for that), but never two CCs.
How did your friend get the information? Was it his travel agent, or just a knowledgeable someone passing by? Even if it's the agent, I would double-check.

I could understand if they were booking 2 cars but they only usually need one form of security deposit from the lead driver for 1 car who accepts responsibility for the payment regardless of who is driving if there is an incident, or non return of the car etc.

We've often had 2 drivers and only ever given 1 card. The one with the cc will have to be named as main driver.

You'll have to speak to whoever you got the car hire off as only they will know but I would comment that I've not heard of anyone other than the lead driver having to give a credit card.

Only whoever you have booked the car hire from will be able to say for sure though.

One driver is nominated as the lead driver, and it is just his card they need.

Ty for the answers, can either of the 2 drivers be classed as the lead driver or is this decided at the booking stage. I think this may be the perceived problem. It was the other half of the one without the card that made the booking, I think his name is the one used first. If this is the case would they be able to change so the one with the card is the lead driver and he goes down as an additional. Sorry to be a little vague I am getting this from one of the concerned parents. Thanks again for the help.

Just had an update. The one without the credit card was the lead driver. The travel agent phoned the hire company in the US to explain. The hire company have said they will accept his debit card instead of a credit card.
    Thanks again for the help.
