Mermaid camp!!

Mermaid camp is to Weekee Wachee what space camp is to NASA and is a new facility recently introduced by this Gulf Coast mermaid park.
It is suitable for children 7-15 years ( good swimmers!!) and takes place on selected dates ( two or three per month) over the Summer. For $175, you get two underwater training sessions, a mermaid makeover, the opportunity to particpate in a live mermaid performance, a portrait, tee shirt and souvenirs, admission to the park for your parents and lunch.

It would be a super present for a little girl ( sorry to be sexist but merman makeover just does not have the same ring to it). The only drawback is that it seems to take place over two days which would mean driving over to the coast twice if you are staying in Orlando, though there is a water park right next door and the Homosassa Manetee park is quite near if the parents want something to do whilst their child is mermaiding. We went yesterday to weeki wachee-thanks to Julie. It's an excellent day out and really enjoyed the mermaid show and riverboat cruise.
Highlight of the day had too be watching the family of otters playing at the waters edge near the river cruise ship. That was a great sight. Go out on the 50 past clermont and keep going till you come to it-and take your swimmers-our crew didn't realise. BTW the swimming bit may only be open fri-sat-sun.
