We are just about to book our car hire for next week. We have always used Dollar before but thought we would try Alamo this time. Does Alamo have an express counter? We have also been told that you can use kiosks or go online, is this correct?

You can only use the Kiosks when booking directly with Alamo (and therefore more expensive).

You can use Alamo Direct Road (https://www.alamodirectroad.com/directroad/index.jsp) which speeds things up marginally when you collect your car.

We used Alamo at Christmas, having usually booked with Dollar (via uscarhire.co.uk, of course) and we found it very quick and easy. We did not use Alamo Direct Road so cannot comment on this, but we did not have any problems. We liked the ability to choose our own vehicle from a row of available cars within the category we had booked. We would have no hesitation about booking Alamo again. [msnsmile]

I have booked Alamo on the last three trips as Ellie has said it is nice to choose your own vehicle.

We used direct road with alamo in February, to be honest it made little difference to checking in at the desk, and he still tried to get us to upgrade!!
Alamo vehicles are all in good condition,never had any problems and choosing your car is a bonus

We arrived on the daily Manchester Virgin flight last November and used Alamo via US Car hire (link above).They had about 8-10 desks open and no queue when we arrived at about 3.30pm. Most of the other people on the Virgin flight were using Dollar.
We used Alamo last Easter and Arrived at 7.30pm and once again 2 people in the queue with a 2-3 min wait.
We much prefer Alamo as you get to choose your own car rather than get one allocated to you.
We also use the link at the top of the page as we cannot find car hire any where else cheaper and travel to the US 2-3 times a year.
