I have to admit I am not entirely sure, where you check in the sign said $10 for non member guests, but I am not sure if you have to be with a member to be "signed in". Membership came included in the rental for us.
It was a really relaxing place with full waitress service of light meals and drinks - felt like being in a hotel but with all the benefits that come from staying in a villa. The only down side was that the drinks were quite dear and they add a 20% service charge onto everything, I think you needed to be a member to get the drinks and food though as it was all cashless and charged to our account.
You do have to be a member or staying in the accomodation to use the water park, golf and restaurants. They don't accept cash so you need a membership or room card to pay. They are thinking of selling temporary membership to people who don't own at Reunion but this may only be of benefit to people who live nearby rather than visiting.
You are allowed to visit Reunion even though the entrances are gated. The roads are public property.
