All I can say is that they still use Airbus A330's on the route

They were in chapter 11 when we flew with them 4 years ago and we had an excellent standard of service.

I flew with them last year from Man(AA had some planes grounded).

Dreadful service - but I might have been unlucky.

Not that particular route, but I did fly MUC-PHL-PIT-MCO over Christmas & New Year.

Every leg of the flight was between 2-5 hours late. We missed our connection, but they put us up in PHL overnight at their expense and gave us $200 vouchers. Food OK, but drinks provided free only on transatlantic legs. No seat-back TVs on any flight. Airbus aircraft were OK.

In my view, no better or worse than any other US carrier I've flown in the past 12 months.

In all honesty, the Economy offering of all the Transatlantic carriers are much of a muchness. You can get good service one day and dreadful treatment the next on the same airline. US Airways are fine and you'll be OK but you can't guarantee a great flight every time with any of them.

I would agree with KG's interpretation of things.

US Airways emerged from Chapter 11 some time ago.
As a Philadelphia based pilot who uses US Airways allot I must say that US Airways have 'shot themselves in the foot' with their lack of service. They charge for all drinks. They charge to check a bag. So consequently all overheads are full with carry on bags. So try to get a window seat in the way back. That means you'll be in one of the the first groups to board. Then you'll be able to put your bags somewhere.
And of course their biggest problem is they use Philly as a hub. One cloud and a red light in West Virginia and there's a delay in Philly!

I do hear that the service on international flights are better than domestic. I'm flying to London in February on US Airways so I'l,l let you know what I think then. Not sure yet weather it'll be through Charlotte or Philly.
