Hello I am looking to plan a big holiday for 2010, there will be at least 4 families travelling, when is the best time to start looking at flights.

    Thanks

It depends when in 2010. Most carriers allow booking about a year in advance, plus or minus.

A lot of carriers won't allow you to book that far in advance. For a rough guide to allow you to budget I would use similar dates as this year.

I know Virgin were now up to 15 Dec 09 for allowing people to book.

Scheduled airlines I think allow booking up to 336 days before travel. Charters can be longer.

If you are planning that far in advance, it may be worth spreading the cost of your holiday by starting to purchase some theme park and attraction tickets. This way, you will also protect yourself from any price rises but naturally not gain or lose from any exchange rate fluctuations. Try the link as above, www.park-tickets.com

Have a good time picking and choosing your villa and which tickets to buy.
    Regards, Mark

If you speak with someone like Virgin holidays group booking dept you may well be able to book earlier. I had a party of 30 who booked flights/flydirve (they did the cars separately elsewhere) with them about 24 months in advance. They were going for a wedding.

As Babblin Boo said by speaking to the group booking dept's you will often get to bnook much further in advance as they like to keep the business from their compeditiors.
