We have a west facing pool and swam every day for 3 weeks over December so am afraid I would have to disagree that a south facing pool would be a must. Admittedly ours is open to the south side as we are on the corner of a culdesac and the house round the corner is set well back.[/quote]That's great, I am pleased you had a good time, we too swam every day the year we booked a villa with a North facing pool, just wasn't as pleasant as stepping out of the pool into the sunshine and we ended up with all the pool furniture at the far right corner of the pool cage to keep it in the sun.
I accept it may not be a simple as just south facing, but when faced with loads of choice, you end up ruling villas out over really petty things like colour of carpet or sofa and with south facing you are guaranteed to get the sun on the pool. By contrast, I don't think I would want a south facing pool in the summer months.
Having made the mistake once, just trying to pass on some advice [msnembarrased]
Once again thankyou for all your advice so far. I have contacted all of the above listed links, and now searching through all of the replies.
So far a couple of properties have stood out.

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum. We visit in February often and it is a lovely time of year to visit. Following on from the pool deck sun topic. I would recommend that once you have a short list that you ask each owner about sun on their pool deck as there are so many variable factors. Ours is East facing and the main area of the sun deck faces South therefore giving lots of sun all year. It really isn't an exact science[msnsmile2]
Have fun looking.
