Travelling to Universal & SeaWorld from Disney

    Hi Everyone!

This is my first post here: ) I am currently in the early stages of booking a holiday to Florida, hopefully staying in Disney's Pop Century or All-Star Music resort in June. My boyfriend and I are both under 25 so getting a hire car will be really expensive. Does anyone know if there are any bus services or other forms of transport to get to Universal Studios and/or SeaWorld and how much these cost, where I might find info on them on the net? I've done loads of searches but can't find anything. Also, is there a way of getting to any of the malls or Outlet Centres from the Disney Resort?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance: )

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
Have you tried the sister site further up this page for car hire? I typed a simulation for a rental for 1 week in June with young driver package and then without, and it ends up being "only" £50 more for young drivers (that's for economy 2 doors and Gold inclusive). Considering the comfort of having your own car and being able to drive further away than the parks, you may want to consider going for it. My humble opinion only. Being in Florida (or about anywhere in the US)without a car can be a pain!

I'm sure someone will come around shortly to help you with details on public transportation from/to Disney.

My daughter, who is just under 25, booked a car from here in December on the young driver's package and was delighted with it. You will find the convenience of having your own transport outweighs the small extra cost of you being a young driver and having to pay a little more. It is so much better to be able to take your car and park it at the parks or the malls rather than having to rely on public transport or taxis, which are not cheap.

I would definitely take a look at www.uscarhire.co.uk on the link above as I am sure you will find they offer a good deal.

If you decide not to hire a car then I believe there are the 'Trolley buses' that run to all of the theme parks, shopping malls and restaurants. Not quite so comfortable as your own car but at least it is an option.

Staying on Disney resorts can sometimes be a little restricted for getting to other parks but it can be done.

We stay in Disney with no car..and use a taxis service..you'll need to put the cost of renting a car against the cost of a taxi ...when in Disney we found the taxi worked out cheaper..so work out how many days the car will be standing in a Disney car park without moving..against the amount of outside trips you want to do...

We have stayed at one of Disney's All Star resorts a couple of times, the last time being 2004. Then, Mears Transportation operated a bus service from the hotel to Seaworld and Universal at a cost of, I think, $12 per person for a return journey. Don't know what the cost might be now. Hope this and the other replies helps you to decide what to do, Flexibecs. Sure you will have a great time.

Try the young driver's package. It's not as expensive as you think.

It's probably worth the extra cost and you will really appreciate the extra freedom you get. You may well find that the extra you spend on buses and taxis quickly runs up.
