So annoyed with myself - Update

Today we landed back from Florida after a fantastic trip. Great flight on Virgin and landed on time to -5 temps!!
Collected all the bags and drove home. Now for the bad bit ( apart from not being Florida that is). Start unpacking and all goes well untill we get to the very ( so we thought) distinctive bag with all the boys skateboards in....... yep you guessed it IT IS NOT OUR BAG [msncry]It is full of clothes and Xmas prezzies but not our skateboards. We have the wrong bags!!![msnoo][msnoo][msnoo]

Have managed to find a piece of paper with an address in Guernsey of someone who gave on of the prezzies so we are trying to get in touch with this family in the hope they can give us a number for the family with the ( hopefully ) our bag.

All this drama on top the fact that Virgin left our Kneeboards behind in Orlando and are sending them on today! All these years of travel and never had this happen. Lesson here - ALWAYS CHECK THE TAG no matter how distinctive you think your bag is!

I'm ashamed to say I did that once in Boston and am now very careful not to repeat the trick.

Hope you don't mind me asking but is it that likely that somebody else has your bag? When it happened to me, I took the bag I'd mistakenly picked up back to the airport and, thankfully, the luggage office had mine there (looking rather lonely).

We aew hoping so. We rang the luggage office and they have told us to being the bag back tomorrow so that is a great 5 hour round trip I could do without [msnsad] but lesson learnt! never let number 1 son get the bags on this own [msnoo].

Oh Dear, but a lesson to everyone... ALWAYS check the name on the label. I picked up an identical bag after our Xmas trip to Rome, but this time the kids didn't take the mickey at me checking the label as it wasn't ours! You feel a bit of a twit putting it back but that is better an losing your skateboards [msnwink]

Hope you get your bag back [msnsmile2]

We (well I) did this once and now always put a distinctive shocking pink ribbon on all our cases. I have never been allowed to forget it.

Your bags should be at the airport, so at least nothing will be missing there. There is no worse feelijng then the bags not even coming out the other side and all your life is in it!

Lets hope the other people see the funny side of it!!!

Well Lee took the bag we had taken in error back to Gatwick last night. The family who had taken our bag in error had called in to say they had it - only trouble is they have flown onto Spain![msnoo] so not quite as easy for them to get the bag baack to Gatwick! So we now know where the skateboards are but still no idea of when we are going to get them back!

If the family take them back to the airport they flew into then they should be able to hand them in as lost property and maybe ask the airline if they can transfer them for you. If they have all the correct details to return them to your house then there shouldnt be a problem. Whoever handles the luggage at Gatwick should be able to advise you, its not the airline but the baggage handling company for the airport.

Jan and Lee, hope it all works out and the airline can get the bag back to you or at least to Gatwick.

At the moment I have a picture in my head of the family in Spain skating round naked on your skate boards [msnwink]
