Miami to Orlando

Hi, new to ths forum. Basically we have been to orlando before we had kids (last time 10 years ago) but now want to go again. We seemed to have missed BA cheap flights to Orlando but can get a good deal to miami. I do not really want to drive straight to orlando from miami. Would it be best to stay in miami 1 night then 4 hour? drive,or drive from the airport 1 to 1.5 hrs & stay somewhere on the east coast or central florida & then drive to orlando the next day. I know there are beach resorts on the east coast, but is there anywhere good to stay in central forida which would split the journey up, we are going for 15 nights so coming back would drive straight down without stopping overnight.

Do you have to fly BA? If you can't get a deal you like direct to Orlando why not use another airline and make an easy same day connection somewhere within the US? There are some great deals about at the moment.

The additional costs of a hotel, fuel and possibly car rental period would all be saved doing that and you wouldn't have to spend all of the last day of your holiday driving to Miami.

We nearly always fly BA to Miami and drive straight up to Orlando. The drive in my opinion is not really that bad.

We too often drive up from Miami and found arriving on a Sunday last time made a huge difference to the traffic - we did the journey in a quicker time as there was no rush hour(s!) traffic in Miami. We always book the early flight into Miami and by the time cleared the airport and collected our car we hit rush hour on the outskirts of Miami.
