I'm new around here, but this thread has struck a chord with me since I'm also in weight loss mode. One thing I've found that helps is having a target other than a number. Let me try to explain what I mean. In June, my family is going on a cruise with my brother's family. My brother has told me on many occasions how spectacular zip lining is and that he would like for me to join him on such an excursion. In most cases, zip lines have a weight limit of 250 lbs. I want to go zip lining with my brother, so my target weight is 250 lbs. I'm not looking at the number, though, I'm looking at the opportunity to zip line. If I don't make the weight, I miss out on the experience. The opposite of that is if I do make the weight, I won't just be happy that I'm below 250, I'll be happy that I can zip line with my brother. That makes it more than just a number and really helps with motivation.

Sorry everyone, went to Frankfurt last week (Monday) on business, got stranded as snow shut the airport and we had to find a hotel to stay another night - mammoth exhibition on, what fun! So got off the plane and had to go straight to group. +4.5lbs so not too pleased as I had tried to make good choices but rather difficult at an exhibition and lunch on the plane both ways. Thrilled to say that is off this week, however have black tie event on Monday as Cat is a finalist for the 3rd consecutive year for bathroom designer of the year in one of the categories. Although it's at the Hilton at Park Lane I am sure as usual the food will be awful (despite the horrendous cost!) and we will have to fall on the bread roll to fill up. So am going to be careful for the rest of the week, and am doing a food diary to try and keep myself in check.

I have to say I don't think this never-ending winter is helping. Freezing cold winds and rain make you want warm and hearty food - if not comfort food - so makes it all the harder. Roll on a proper spring, we could all do with it and there is nothing like the thought of summer on the way to give one some inspiration.

Forgot to say in a moment of madness to encourage another member who is in serious danger of falling off the slimming wagon I have agreed to enter the run for life in Windsor with her so we have an interim goal to aim for. I might be power walking as one of my knees doesn't stand up too well to running, but I shall be on a training schedule - with the dog in tow - to get me fit enough. Although I walk twice a day for about 40 mins each time, it's much easier to get a decent pace going when it's warm and the ground is solid underneath food, rather than wet and slippery!

I'm off to plan my menus for the week and might be trying a few new ideas - just looked on the SW site (they seem to have tweaked it a bit?) and found a great recipe for falafels which sounded delicious - as did a chickpea curry. Have a good week everyone.

It is hard Fiona when one is away such a lot, and unfortunately we have attended 3 separate weekend Conferences (which include Black Tie Banquets) for the past 3 weeks and another one to come early April in Harrogate where I am a speaker. The food is usually quite awful and one has to eat the bread roll just incase. However, they usually tend to do excellent puddings which of course I have to eat as I am hungary after an awful main course!!!

I have my weigh in tomorrow at Noon so am just praying that my super speed foods and my 50/70 squats daily for the past 6 days show a result tomorrow!![msneek]

Hi Disney Fun Villa welcome to OV Slimming Club.

Welcome back Fiona you have been missed

Happy Birthday Sandra for tomorrow I am more positive today thats more down to you guys and your encouragement.

Like you Sandra I am only a cpuple of years away from 70 and I honestly believe this is my last chance to lose the weight.and more importantly keep it off This is my first major blimp in 16 months and it did throw me. Maybe I was getting a tad cocky in believing I had cracked it and I was never going to be a fat lump ever again.

I love feeling like I do now, more confident.and full of life Going into clothes stores seeing my size in all the ranges, still gives me a buzz. Although I still have a way to go I feel "normal" for the first time in years

I never again want to be the fat lady lauighing on the outside, yet crying on the inside.
Tomorrow is another day I am back in the zone!!!

Fantastic Barbara!!! We can do it together!!!

Welcome to the group Disneyfunvilla. You have a great motivation in wanting to join your brother. Everyone is different. Sometimes it is a wedding, a holiday, a school reunion...eeek....or that 'special birthday'. Whatever it is, we sometimes come to a stop in our journey, but as long as we can step back on the train and continue, we will succeed. It has to be a way of life unfortunately which is hard to take on board!!

    Hi everyone

Just got back from Florida and have put on 8lbs, need to loose them in the next 5 weeks as we are going back with the family at the end o April for 2 weeks and if I put on another 8lbs (as seems to be the norm for me) I don't want to be left with a stonme to lose. I was a bit dissapointed as I never had a single doughnut and I went to Zumba twice a week while I was there[msneek]

I find standing on the scales is really disheartening, i prefer to try on a pair of jeans that when I am at my target weight fit nicely, otherwise they are too tight.

Absolutely gutted that I did not even lose alb after my week of super speed foods and my squats everyday. Really felt like leaving the class and going home, but deep down I know I need the class to succeed. I am so mad I can't explain.[msnmad][msnmad][msncry]

Don't give up Sandra, usually when you have a really healthy good week that you don't lose any weight, but you will lose it next week, so keep being good.

Welcome Mike, good luck with the weight loss.

Firstly welcome Mike, sorry I didn't see your post last night, I think I jumped a page when I posted! Having no idea what zip lines are I have just looked them up ... safe to say not something I shall be indulging in as I have no head for heights whatsoever. But it's a fantastic thing for you to aim for, and something to keep you on the straight and narrow when you feel like having a wobble on the food and drink front. You will find most of us are doing Slimming World which we attend in class in the UK (but can do online) but in the US it is now available online as well as in a few areas of Texas. Like any diet food plan it's about teaching / helping us to make sensible choices and a lifestyle change so we can a lose the weight and b keep it off.

Sandra, firstly happy birthday and I hope you've had a fantastic day.
I know just how you feel. I have been wobbling all over the place since Cat went back into hospital last year, and despite everything being ok now, have found it hard to get the motivation.
Hopefully back on track now particularly as I have just found out that the Run of Life we thought was in September is in fact in June, so only 10 weeks to get fit .... aaaaagh.
Don't forget when you start exercising or up the exercise your body can hang on to water initially as it goes into shock mode (!) so you may not see the weight loss you were hoping for straight away. Keep at it and you will prevail.
On the speed foods this week, goodness me they are effective!
    Fiona
