Fair enough but equally it could be argued that your own posts are irrelevant to the OP's question and that that question, was also answered within the original post and also confirmed by blott's post.

The fact that the exchange rate has changed and that therefore the relevant price of the meal to yourself has altered is completely irrelevant and may have no bearing for forum members from different countries who work with different exchange rates. I think, in fact, that the bulk of threads on this forum (and in fact many internet forums) could be resolved within a couple of posts if that was the attitude taken.

Don't know that they would make for such interesting reading, though.

The title of this thread is "Has the Financial Climate Affected Eating Out"? As the exchange rate is part of the climate, the clear answer is "YES".

I think everybody understands the reasons why certain posters consistently make unfounded statements on the comparative costs of things but a level of realism is needed if these threads are to have credibility rather than be a vehicle to pursue self-serving aims. Like it or not, (and I certainly don't) a 30% decline in the exchange rate has made a big difference to the cost to almost all aspects of a holiday in the US and that certainly includes food and drink.

Most of us will find a way to continue our love affair with the US/Florida but we're fooling both ourselves and new people seeking out these forums for honest and objective information if we perpetuate the myth that we aren't all either going to be spending quite a lot more money or cutting back on some of the parts of it we've all got used to.

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has seen a price increase/decrease in eating out in Orlando due to the state of the financial climate [u]over there</u>?[/quote]If we're being pedantic, and it seems we are, then this was the original question asked by the OP. You'll note that, as MTP has pointed out, it has no bearing on the current exchange rate of any currency with another but is requesting info on the current restaurant prices for eating out in Florida.

We have the usual exponents turning the question into something it's not for reasons best known to themselves and relating it to exchange rates - this wasn't the question!

And the (very truthful) answer to the original question is 'NO' - there have been little in the way of changes in Florida prices for eating out due to the state of the financial climate [u]over there</u>. I'm currently in Florida and that's the truthful answer to the original question.

Topic is now locked as eating out and exchange rates have been covered and weren't the subject of the original question anyway.
