    Atlanta to Orlando/ State Lines

    Hi everyone,

I've been offered a free ticket to Atlanta as part of a loyalty scheme and I was thinking of using it to pay another visit to Orlando.

I quite fancy the long drive, but I was wondering if there's anything I should stop and see?

Perhaps there's a particularly scenic route (I prefer driving rather than cruising)?

    or a must-see attraction?

Also, is there anything I should be wary of when crossing the state border?

    Hi Tony,
Cannot think of anything of interest from Atlanta you will just join the 75 and keep going. Never had any problems with the state borders we have crossed. Will you be flying out of Orlando or driving back to Atlanta. If flying out of Orlando and you have a car hire from Atlanta you will find that the hire companies will charge you extra for dropping off the car in another state.

    Enjoy the drive

Not done it myself....I always fly.... but all the people I know who have done the drive say it is flat and boring and you must watch out for speed cameras.

Many thanks for your replies, your input is invaluable (in the good way!).

Val, as the flight is a return to/from Atlanta, I would be diving back there, so shouldn't incur any costs dropping off the car elsewhere.

Shirley, flat? Boring? Speed cameras? Sounds like hell, but, on the other hand, I fancy some chill time with 80s summer music, so maybe a slow cruise is right for me.

CarolAnn, dual landing? Care to elaborate? Do two planes land concurrently? Hopefully they're on different runways?[msneek]

Ooh, just remembered, is there an issue taking a couple of cigars to the US? Or across state lines?

I got a couple of Cuban cigars that might make the drive much more pleasant.

... I'd feel for the next renter of the hire car though! [xx(]

Beware crossing the state border. There's a rumor of a new Florida Statae Guard who just loves to check your cavities. He's pretty gentle, but he's known to have long finger nails. Also, don't try to bring any live Gerbils into Florida. They are a banned animal. Apart from that, and the usual things like, Florida won't allow anyone with shorts and black socks to eneter, you'll be fine.
I think the oatmeal rasin cookie ban has been lifted.
