Must admit I've seen the adverts on tv here but haven't come across any of the stores yet,nut haven't been specifically looking.
What do they sell, as we have none near us in Surrey, least none that I am aware of.

Aldi are just the same as Lidl they are general supermarkets but sell the most odd items along with food. My local Lidl, great on prices for fruit and vegetables, sells windscreen wipers and men's boots along the same aisle as cakes and biscuits.
Difficult to get a week's shopping in these places, I believe Aldi stores though are generally larger than Lidl's, but they are great on special offers and they do include 'proper' brands.
Once thought the poor end of the market but not anymore. Believe, but not sure, that the original owners of the stores were two Dutch or German brothers, they are very big on the Continent.
