    Heading to Florida in January

My wife an I retired from teaching a few years ago. Last year we stayed with a friend for two weeks in Port St. Lucie and loved it. We are going to drive down to the Orlando area in early January and we will stay a few weeks with friends in February. We are looking for a place to stay for three weeks in January. Our schedule is pretty free we do not mind spending some time in an inexpensive hotel. Do you think we should book a place ahead of time or just wait until we arrive.

I would certainly book your accommadation now. Take a look at the sites above for fantastic villas. You can send out an enquiry and villa owners will come back to you.
Enjoy making a decision and of course, your holiday.

Any time in Florida is good time. As Lynne said looking at renting a villa is a good option.

I would certainly look at which villas are available, it is so much more relaxing than a hotel and you have much more space to relax in.

You can put a search in the sites above and ask for anything that might be particularly important to you.

Must be lovely to be able to go away and visit friends not having to rush back for work. I am sure you will have a memorable trip.

[xmas1]Thanks for the fast reply, It is just the two of us. We really do not need a 3 or 4 bedroom. We are looking for something less expensive and a bit smaller. A 1 br or a studio would be nice, even a timeshare rental. Thanks, Al

Welcome to the forum Al. You'll have a wonderful time in Orlando. If you do chose a hotel please make sure it is a decent quality you will get what you pay for!

We have stayed at a couple of timeshares while waiting for the villa to be built. They were quite spacious and nice. The only part I did not like was having to share the facilities and the pool area was always busy with children.

I think you will find a timeshare can be very expensive and not as good as a private villa as said before a villa as much more privacy and your own pool .
We own a timeshare and you get what you pay for so be careful .
All the villas on these sites are verifed as said before so what you see is what you get .
    Enjoy your vacation

I am thinking that just for the two of us I will book a last minute deal with Wyndham
    [website link edited]
They have an Endless Vacation Rental last minute deals for 7 nights for $329 to $399 at a 5 star rated resort tax included. It is the best deal I have been able to find for just two people. A Villa would be great if we had a group of people to share it and the cost.

I know how you feel. My sister booked our villa just for the two of them, now there are 8 people as everyone thought it sounded like a good idea! so much for them having a quiet little get away [msnwink]
